"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)
"But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!" (Amos 5:24)
"he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth." (Isaiah 42:4)
Our Social Action Ministry recognizes that most social problems are rooted in our system - political or otherwise. In it we seek to educate and inspire our members to showcase the Lord´s justice through rational means:
Traditional Marriage Rally
Our history, our culture and our God has always defined Marriage as the eternal bond between a man and a woman. Politicians are fighting to change that. They want marriage to include unions between gay couples. The long term ramification of this is just devastating. By practicing our freedom of speech, we peacefully rallied in the streets to fight back this subversive tide for the sake of our children and our morality.
Civic Class
We recognize that politics impact our everyday lives. Our ministry would be incomplete if we ignore the realm of politics. That is exactly why we offer Civic Class regularly to educate our members in American history, politics and government structure. With a deeper understanding of our adopted home comes a deeper appreciation of this "Shining City on the Hill".
Election Workshop
With each national and statewide election cycle comes confusion. We respect that politics is complicated and often deceiving, but we seek to research and present arguments impartially from all viewpoints. In each class/workshop we take pain to present the objective facts and data; we will only present our religious and personal viewpoints as such.
Citizenship Class
When new immigrants face the prospect of becoming American citizens, most see nothing but an overwhelming hurdle - the naturalization interview. We seek to arm prospective interviewees with everything they need, from American history to politics; from government structure to basic English language skills. Our instructor will guide you safely through your journey of becoming an American citizen.
Statewide Petition Drives
Needless to say, the United States of America is a representative Democracy. However, when it is apparent that politicians do not act in the interest of their constituents, the people has a last discourse. Individual members of FECDB frequently answer this call to arms and participate in Statewide Petition Drives to put various propositions on the ballot. Although FECDB takes no official stance in these Petition Drives, members often organize letter-write campaigns as well as signature gathering drives to voice their opinions.
