| Cantonese Zone Pastor
- Pastor James Lam |
 |
Pastor James was born and raised in Hong Kong. After high school, he went to Seattle, WA, for his college education.
He graduated from University of Washington (UW) with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He sensed God's calling to
full-time ministry during his senior year at UW. Pastor James then responded to God by attending Western Conservative Baptist
Seminary in Portland, OR, to get prepared for ministry. He met his wife, Ming-huei, at Western and was married in 1987.
After graduating from Western, they first served at the Portland Chinese Presbyterian Church for three years. Then, they were called to serve the college students at Iowa State University (ISU). Pastor James served as
the first pastor of the Chinese Evangelical Free Church of Ames, while Ming-huei worked at ISU as a counselor.
In 1999 they moved to Seattle and served at the Grace
Chinese Evangelical Free Church until 2006. In the fifteen years of ministry, Pastor James has enjoyed serving
people of all ages and of different occupations and backgrounds. He also appreciated
the opportunities to serve white-collar workers, blue-collar workers, as well
as college students. His passion is to preach the whole counsel of God and to make disciples who truly love the
Lord. His hobbies are reading, playing guitar, and singing; he enjoys badminton as well.
After Pastor James and Ming-huei moved to California to
serve at FECDB, they became "empty-nester" because their only teenage daughter, Elim, decided to stay in
WA to finish high school. Ming-huei now works at UCLA as the Director of Covel Tutorials, and Elim attends Shoreline
Christian School (SCS), the school she loves dearly, in the Seattle area.
